NON-STEROIDAL ANTI INFLAMMATORY DRUGS(NSAIDs))

-its an analgesic
-non-steroidal side effect
-anti-inflammatory
-analgesics
-inhibiting the production of prostaglandin(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostaglandin)

GENERAL INDICATION
  1. mild to moderate pain relief
  2. fever reduction
  3. primary dysmenorrhea

EXAMPLE OF DRUGS
  1. Diclofenac Sodium(Voltaren)
  2. Ibuprofen(Brufen)
  3. Mefenamic Acid(Ponstan)
VOLTAREN
  1. 50MG tablet, 75mg/3ml injection
  2. injection doses must be consult with specialist
  3. using tablet(50mg), 100-150 mg per day on divided dose
  4. 75mg/3ml injection, administer only once daily by deep intamuscular(preferably buttocks)
  5. in severe cases, 2 times per day is considered(max 2 days)

IBUPROFEN 200MG tablet
  1. adults- 2oo-400mg tds
  2. max 2.4g/day
  3. peads 20-30mg/kg/day(divided dose)
MEFENAMIC ACID(PONSTAN)250MG CAPSULE/TABLET
  1. Adult
  2. 250-500MG TDS WHEN NEEDED
  3. Limits to 7 consecutive days
  4. for peads > 6 months, 6.5-25mg/kg tds-qid when needed, limited to 7 consecutive days
